Orange City Council believed the power usage at the main water supply pumping station was impacting the power grid across Orange. The council engaged Sustainable Energy Design to analyse power usage at the pumping station and to identify potential efficiency measures.
The council has implemented SED’s recommendations with real time monitoring and quality feedback loops for optimising energy usage at the pumping station. SED measured power factors before and after installation and the anticipated energy savings were realised.
The annual electricity savings achieved by council will ensure a payback period of just 18 months.
